Fuzzy fault tree analysis: revisited
نویسنده
چکیده
This talk will review two case studies that examine the effectiveness of using Fuzzy Top Event Probability (FTEP) over the conventional approach. Case study one relates to flash vessel in an ammonia tank, while in case study two ,using fuzzy set theory, the FTEP has been estimated for the existing ammonia storage tank in a large fertilizer complex located in Mumbai, India. In addition, a new formalism for estimating the possibility of a fuzzy event is presented with a simple application. bio: Professor Ashok Deshpande holds a Ph.D. degree in Engineering and Technology. He is the Founding Chair of the Berkeley Initiative in Soft Computing (BISC)-Special Interest Group (SIG)-Environment Management Systems (EMS) located in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at UC Berkeley, a position he was requested to take by Dr. Lotfi Zadeh, the founder of fuzzy logic, after listening to Deshpande’s many seminars and talks. Overcoming the uncertainty in a research reactor LOCA in level-1 PSA; Fuzzy based fault-tree/event-tree analysis
Probabilistic safety assessment (PSA) which plays a crucial role in risk evaluation is a quantitative approach intended to demonstrate how a nuclear reactor meets the safety margins as part of the licensing process. Despite PSA merits, some shortcomings associated with the final results exist. Conventional PSA uses crisp values to represent the failure probabilities of basic events. This causes...
متن کاملApplication of Fuzzy Fault Tree Analysis on Oil and Gas Offshore Pipelines
Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) as a Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) method is used to identify basic causes leading to an undesired event, to represent logical relation of these basic causes in leading to the event, and finally to calculate the probability of occurrence of this event. To conduct a quantitative FTA, one needs a fault tree along with failure data of the Basic Events (BEs). Someti...
متن کاملApplication of Fuzzy Fault Tree Analysis in Risk Assessment of Ammonia Tank Explosion Scenario
Introduction: Chemical industries often have risks for the environment and communities, due to the use of complex facilities and processes. Also, in the ammonia tanks, the probability of risk of explosion is high, owing to their specific characteristics. The aim of this study is to evaluate the risks of explosion scenario at the ammonia tank in the Kermanshah petrochemical complex Material and...

The traditional event tree analysis uses a single probability to represent each top event. However, it is unrealistic to evaluate the occurrence of each event by using a crisp value without considering the inherent uncertainty and imprecision a state has. The fuzzy set theory is universally applied to deal with this kind of phenomena. The main purpose of this study is to construct an easy metho...
